Eating Out When in Hull

On day trips and short breaks, trying to fit as many activities in the time you have can build up quite an appetite. As with many places, Hull has plenty to do and see, whether it be sight seeing, museums, bowling or cinema. At the end of a busy day in Hull, most visitors are hungry and are wanting to find places to eat which meet their individual requirements. This article will give you an insight into the wide range of restaurants that are located in Hull, which cater for everyone.

Picking a Hull Restaurant to Visit...

Dining options in Hull are surprisingly plentiful, as the city has a number of different areas that have lively nightlife, and hence lots of restaurants in Hull to choose from. You may wish to wander the city centre and find a suitable eatery, or else explore the Princes Avenue or Newland Avenue areas, which also have some exciting restaurants.

Most visitors to Hull will find themselves wishing to dine in and around the city centre. The pedestrian-friendly shopping streets around Carr Lane and Whitefriargate are an excellent place to start if you're looking for restaurants. During the daytime in particular there are many cafes and coffee shops to choose from as well as pizza, sandwiches and the ever-present sight of a fish and chip shop. As evening falls, head down Whitefriargate towards the older quarter of the city where a host of exclusive restaurants and taverns offer a wide variety of cuisine. Or else, why not wander down Princes Dock Street towards the marina. Along the way you'll encounter a number of different restaurants with excellent views of the harbour.

Two other good places to find Hull restaurants within the city centre is to visit the pair of shopping centres. Princes Quay shopping centre, on Carr Lane, has a wide variety of eateries during the day, whilst at night it has two excellent Italian restaurants with delightful views of the water. Furthermore, across town on Ferensway, St. Stephens is Hull's newest, ultra-modern shopping complex and has a plenty of daytime and evening dining options. Take the lift up to the top deck and you'll find Cajun cuisine, gourmet burgers, Japanese and Mexican restaurants amongst others. Visitors to Hull's museums and theatres or those in town to sample the nightlife will find the choice of restaurants in the city centre convenient and appealing.

Perhaps you're not visiting Hull's city centre or wish to explore a different area. Why not try Princes Avenue. It's a thriving thoroughfare of bars and restaurants set amongst the leafy Avenues area and popular with the locals. You'll easily find somewhere for a bite during the day or else an evening meal. Wet your whistle at a local hostelry and then sample one of the many restaurants nearby. Princes Avenue is constantly changing, but currently has excellent Indian, Moroccan, Thai and Italian restaurants as well as a number of celebrated cafe bars offering fine dining in hip surroundings with a wide variety of speciality beers and wines.

Finally, head a little further north away from the city centre and you'll find Newland Avenue, close to Hull University. The Newland area is fast becoming the most popular place to enjoy an evening out in Hull and is therefore attracting more and more new restaurants all the time. It's known for its selection of intimate cafe bars and restaurants specialising in excellent bar food in relaxed surroundings. It's a short walk up and down the avenue so take your time before you settle in somewhere. Other restaurants close to Newland include superb Italian, Chinese and Lebanese cuisine.
